Dina Smeltz
Dina Smeltz is Vice President of Penn, Schoen and Berland Associates, New York.
Dina Smeltz has 15 years of experience conducting international social policy research for the U.S. Department of State and is a recognized expert for her pioneering research in central and eastern Europe and the Middle East. Dina has conducted hundreds of international opinion surveys and focus groups to help inform US foreign policy decisions and shape public diplomacy strategies. She also regularly briefed US senior officials at the State Department, Department of Defense, the NSC and other Washington agencies on the implications of these studies. Dina Smeltz has received Superior Honor Awards for working with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, for her work on Europe, and for outstanding leadership.
Dina Smeltz specializes in crisis management research, quick-turnaround tracking polls, election polling, policy impact studies and communication/messaging strategies. The research she has conducted on democratization, international security, political reform has taken her inside homes to speak with women in Saudi Arabia, into discussions with anti-globalization activists in Europe, and into the war-torn landscapes of the Balkans, Northern Ireland, the Palestinian Authority and Iraq.
Dina Smeltz has a Masters Degree in Russian and East European Studies from the University of Michigan. She also began her research career at Michigan, taking survey research courses from known experts and working as interviewer and analyst in the Detroit Area Survey. She also has a degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University.
